30 km/h is a polarizing topic: while supporters hope for less noise, more safety and a better quality of life, others perceive 30 km/h as annoying and damaging to the economy.
In Sundern, the topic is currently attracting a great deal of interest after the city council decided to introduce a 30 km/h speed limit on many through roads. Citizens expressed their displeasure at the decision, which prompted some local politicians to distance themselves from the decision.
Together with the audience, Prof. Johannes Weyer and Ralf Fox, the managing director of a care service in Sundern, a discussion was held in the town hall. Various perspectives on 30 km/h were examined together. How can local authorities bring together the different needs of residents, road users and local businesses? They also discussed why the public debate surrounding the issue is so emotionalized and whether there are alternatives to 30 km/h.
