Now that those involved in the NeMo.bil project have been working on the development of the autonomous cabs for four years, another milestone has been celebrated: The NeMo.bil cabs were presented for the first time in Paderborn and tested in demonstration drives on the tarmac.

Although operation for presentation purposes still required a safety driver, autonomous test operation is due to start this year. And that's not all: NeMo-Paderborn is currently assuming that the cabs will be operating autonomously on public roads in Paderborn and the surrounding area within three years in order to expand public transport with an on-demand service.

Paderborn District Administrator Christoph Rüther, who has supported the project from the outset, was also on site on Friday to take part in the demo drives. The WDR reported, the article can be found here.
