To the Moon and Mars?

This question was discussed by Jan Wörner, President of acatech and former Director General of the European Space Agency ESA, Max Gulde, CEO of constellR, and Johannes Weyer at the "acatech on Tuesday" event on September 12th in Munich. There was an agreement that applications such as satellite navigation are indispensable. But whether it makes sense to take people to the moon again or whether there are rather more important projects here on Earth was a disputeded subject. The question also remained open as to whether projects such as space tourism or the planned moon station serve the goal of climate neutrality, since they contribute to increased CO2 emissions.
